Research Program
Following the completion of the foundational volumes of Cognitiveism, Angelic Luong has entered a new stage of her intellectual journey. Rather than considering Cognitiveism a finished philosophical system, she regards it as the beginning of a lifelong research program dedicated to understanding the cognitive foundations of human development, governance, institutional evolution, and civilization.
The Cognitiveism Research Program was established upon a fundamental conviction: a philosophical framework should not remain solely within the boundaries of abstract theory. Any theory that seeks to explain society, institutions, or the development of civilizations must continually be examined against historical evidence, contemporary realities, and direct human experience. For this reason, Cognitiveism is being developed through an ongoing dialogue between philosophical reasoning, interdisciplinary scholarship, and comparative field research.
The research adopts an interdisciplinary methodology that brings together political philosophy, ethics, cognitive science, economics, education, institutional studies, comparative history, and cultural analysis. Rather than treating these disciplines as isolated fields of knowledge, the program seeks to understand how they interact in shaping human cognition, social trust, institutional capacity, and the long-term development of civilizations. The purpose is not to defend predetermined conclusions, but to continuously evaluate, refine, and strengthen the theoretical propositions of Cognitiveism through intellectual inquiry and empirical observation.
A central principle of this research program is intellectual humility. Every major proposition within Cognitiveism remains open to examination, revision, and improvement whenever new evidence or broader comparative perspectives provide deeper understanding. The objective is not to preserve a fixed philosophical doctrine but to pursue an evolving framework capable of responding to increasingly complex questions concerning humanity and the future of civilization.
The current stage of the program focuses on establishing an international academic foundation for Cognitiveism. This includes the preparation of peer-reviewed journal articles, academic dialogue with universities and researchers, and the gradual introduction of Cognitiveism into broader scholarly discussion. Academic publication is viewed not as the conclusion of the research process but as the beginning of a continuous exchange of ideas, constructive criticism, and intellectual collaboration.
Beginning in 2027, the program is expected to enter its first major phase of comparative field research through an extended period of study in the People’s Republic of China. This research will explore questions concerning institutional execution, educational culture, long-term strategic planning, technological modernization, and the relationship between cognitive development and national governance. China has been selected because it provides one of the world’s most significant contemporary examples of rapid institutional transformation and long-term developmental planning.
Subject to academic collaboration and research opportunities, the second phase of the program is planned to begin in 2028 through comparative research in the Nordic region, particularly Sweden and Norway. These societies have attracted attention because of their high levels of social trust, democratic stability, educational quality, institutional integrity, and human development. By studying both East Asian and Nordic societies, the research seeks to compare different historical and cultural pathways toward sustainable civilizational development while identifying cognitive principles that may transcend geographical and ideological boundaries.
The long-term vision of the Cognitiveism Research Program is to develop a continually evolving body of interdisciplinary scholarship that contributes to international discussions on governance, education, ethics, institutional development, and the future of human civilization. Each book, academic paper, and field study represents one stage of this continuing journey. Future editions of Cognitiveism will therefore document not only the evolution of its theoretical framework but also the intellectual growth that emerges through lifelong learning, international research, and open academic dialogue.
Cognitiveism is therefore not intended to be the conclusion of a research career. It is intended to become the framework through which a lifetime of observation, reflection, scholarship, and international collaboration continues to unfold.
